CS373 Fall 2020: Week of 12 Oct — 18 Oct

What did you do this past week?

I spent this week in agony as I had exams for this class and others. I mostly studied for this class and other classes. We also got some work done on the API for our website.

What’s in your way?

The thing in my way is motivation. I am pretty tired and the thought of having to do more work is upsetting right now. All I want to do is sleep. The other thing in my way is time. I feel as though there is not enough time to do the things we want and the things I need to do.

What will you do next week?

We will make tests for the API. We need to thoroughly check to make all the routes work and find potential errors. I do not know if we need to check for malicious intent but either way, I think flask handles that. One way or another, we will find out.

If you read it, what did you think of The Liskov Substitution Principle?

I think that the Liskov Substitution Principle is intuitive nowadays. I don’t know when that book was written but I think we are taught that in CS314, but it was not explicitly stated as the Substitution Principle.

What was your experience of Test #1? (this question will vary, week to week)

The test was ok. I did not study as much as I should have which caused me to struggle in the first part of the test. I don’t know if I did better in the second part because I was better rested and knew what to expect or because it was easier. I spent too much time on the first question of the first part and it caused me to mess up the rest of the things.

What made you happy this week?

I got to eat out a lot under the disguise of me being too busy to cook. I got to try some new restaurants and also got to have food poisoning. The food was good except for that one restaurant which really should have been the indicator that it was bad.

What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?

Simplenote is pretty neat. It lets you take notes but not only that it lets you output them in markdown format. So you can do all your documentation in simplenote and then output it in .md format later. I use it for school notes too since the organization is better than say google docs.
